Like any garden\, your rain garden will need extra attention in the beginning\, as the plants grow in. As the plants grow to full size\, maintenance will taper off to the need of a regular garden.  This session will showcase a variety of maintenance tips and techniques to build your confidence. \nParticipants will spend the first half of the workshop in the Bruce Company classroom and the second half will be hands on maintenance at Kromrey Middle School (7009 Donna Drive). We will remove invasive species and plant and mulch native plants. \nAbout the Workshop Host\nMitchell McCarthy is a Middleton resident and the Watershed Coordinator\, Sauk County Land Resources & Environment. With over a decade of experience providing technical and financial assistance on Wisconsin properties\, Mitchell has learned to meet landowners where they are (figuratively and literally) on their conservation journey. Mitchell has successfully designed\, installed\, and maintained rain gardens that are aesthetically pleasing\, improve groundwater\, remove pollution\, provide flood prevention and habitat for pollinators. \nThis event is free\, but registration is required. Space is limited to 25 attendees. \n
