Charitable Involvement

For over 70 years, the community of Middleton has made The Bruce Company the trusted name in outdoor living and gardening. It’s extremely important to us to show our gratitude, and find ways to support our community and local organizations. Our ‘Bruce Gives Back’ Initiative makes these local programs a priority, typically centered around an event at The Bruce Company or our various fundraising efforts.

Every time you visit the Garden Center, you’ll have the opportunity to support a local cause aimed at improving our community. We hope you join us in being an active member of the community and giving back however you can. Click the logos below for more information about each program The Bruce Company supports.

2024 Charity of the Year
Madison Reading Project

Our 2024 Charity of the Year was the amazing Madison Reading Project, whose mission is to place books in young readers’ hands and spark a lifelong love of reading. We kicked off the year in style by participating in their Read(y)-To-Wear fashion runway event, showcasing a one-of-a-kind dress crafted and modeled by our retail team—90% paper, of course, as a tribute to books!

In the summer, we turned the page to a storybook character-themed book drive event, bringing our community together for a magical day filled with fun, games, prizes, and a special visit from the MRP Bookmobile.

We wrapped up the year with our annual Ladies Night Out, where raffle proceeds and year-round donations from our generous customers were presented to the Madison Reading Project. Thanks to you, our amazing customers, we were able to raise $1,900 to support this fantastic organization and help spread the joy of reading to young minds.

2023 Charity of the Year
Make-A-Wish Foundation

Our best wishes go out to our 2023 Charity of the Year, the Madison Chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation! This year, we had the incredible privilege of meeting Samuel, our Wish recipient, whose dream of a family trip to Hawaii became a reality.

Thanks to the generosity of our community, we raised over $8,000 to support Samuel’s wish. Throughout the year, our donation boxes at the registers filled with contributions, and summer brought Samuel’s Marvelous, Amazing, Very Fun Day—a joyous event filled with games, prizes, and laughter for kids and families. We closed the year on a high note with our Ladies Night Out event, where raffle proceeds made a significant impact.

It was a year full of heart and hope, proving that together, we can make wishes come true. Thank you to everyone who helped bring Samuel’s dream to life!
